In February 2017, I was inspired to translate some images that I saw in my meditative trances into paintings.
What I devised was to create a stream-of-consciousness experiment that links a series of paintings together.
It is based on an old game where you fold a piece of paper into sections, draw something random, extend the lines that touch one edge of a section onto the next section and create another new random drawing.
When you are done, unfold the paper and you have a larger connected, surreal drawing.
Very fun to play with friends, especially since you keep the sections secret from one another until the paper is unfolded.
My plan is to keep creating these 6" x 9" watercolor paintings throughout the year, splicing them together as they are done.
We'll see what we get at the end of the year.
